Sabarimala (ശബരിമല) is a Hindu pilgrimage centre located at Pathanamthitta District, in Kerala. Sree Dharma Sastha Temple, dedicated to Lord Ayyappa, in Sabarimala is the most famous and prominent among all the Sastha temples in Kerala. Situated deep in the dence forest and surrounded by many hills, Sabarimala Sree Ayyappa temple is believed to be the oldest and most important Dharmasasthav temple in Kerala. Irrespective of the caste, religion or social status, all devotees on this pilgrimage are treated as Ayyappa. Pilgrimage walk around 4 kilometer, bare foot on rocks, trones and dense forest to reach the Sannidhanam (Sabarimala temple) and Lord Ayyappa.
How to reach Sabarimala:
By Air : International Airport at Nedumbassery, near Angamaly, is 160 km away and Thiruvananthapuram International Airport 170 km.
By Rail : Nearest railway stations are; Chengannur Railway Station - 82 km, Tiruvalla Railway Station - 92 km, Kottayam Railway Station - 120 km and Kollam Junction railway station - 129 km.
By Road : KSRTC (Kerala State Road Transport Corporation) will have specail buses from all the major stations. Pathanamthitta town to Sabarimala is about 70 km.
